Tips I wish I’d known before my trip:

  • It’s essential to bring cash, as cards aren’t accepted here.
  • Pack plenty of sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
  • A basic first-aid kit with medications (ibuprofen, pain relievers, etc.) and rehydration salts is also a must.

You’ll probably be going to the bathroom a lot during your first week.

  • An external battery and a flashlight are essential; power outages are practically daily, and you never know how long they might last.
  • Download a VPN before coming because there are many apps that don’t have access here (like Spotify, TikTok, Netflix…)
